Anyone Else Doin the Europe 72 Tour?

#251023 1 year ago
41st anniversary starts today in London Wembly Empire Pool.

I need to get my $$ worth from the damn box!

In all seriousness - E72 has my vote to be in the top 3 GD tours of all time. Pigpen's last stand. So many Mr. Charlies . My favorite Not Fade aways ever (I love when Pig and Weir go back and forth). I could go on and on. Plus I will say the box set is pretty damn sweet.

I wanted to add - what are some of your favorite shows from this tour?

I agree. The Europe 72 Tour was one of the best. My personal favorite show from this tour is 5/11/72, Rotterdam Civic Hall, Netherlands. Another show worth mentioning is 5/26/72 The Strand Lyceum, London, England

I don't have a favorite show. It all depends on what you're looking for IMO. Deep space? Really hot, straight ahead rock? Gutbucket R&B? Lilting country? Some of the best songwriting in all of rock? Europe '72 has all of that in spades. That's why the tour is so revered.

That said, any show with Chinatown Shuffle or Two Souls In Communion has a special edge in my book.

4/8 London day 2 highlight:

Dark Star > Sugar Magnolia > Caution (~ 58 minutes) - Holy shit. Might be my all time fave Caution.

Dark Star from 72-04-08

I think I like the sound on Hundred Year Hall more than from the box set, but I haven't sat down and really dissected the two against each other. 72-04-26 is the date. The Other One is of high note. Europe had a few great TOOs.

gd72-04-24 Rockin the Rhein has a great Two Souls in Communion.

72-05-03.sbd.masse.6453 has a buttery China Cat>IKYR
You aren't interesting or clever when you write or speak in the lyrics of others. Rather, what are YOUR words?

It's dead and over when close enough is good enough.
